The comments are loaded from Disqus, and text takes a negligible amount of storage. I presume it has something to do with server stuff, but maybe they forgot to resubscribe to the Disqus service or something like that.

I heard the issue occurred when they switched domains, I've seen a few of their mirrors with old comments still on them.
